Workshop on Grant Writing at University of Hyderabad
ASPIRE- BioNEST at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) in support from the BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) of Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has conducted a workshop on “Grant Writing” on Monday.
Hyderabad: ASPIRE- BioNEST at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) in support from the BIRAC (Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council) of Department of Biotechnology (DBT) has conducted a workshop on "Grant Writing" on Monday.
Resource persons from BIRAC have presented and demonstrated with few case studies on how to write Grant applications for the funding available from BIRAC in life sciences. The event was attended by about 125 participants from industry, academia, research institutes and individuals – all working in the field of Life Sciences and Engineering for Life Science backgrounds across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.
The event consisted of two topics on Funding Opportunities in Life Sciences, covered by Dr. Sanjay Saxena, Head of Investment, BIRAC, and Grant Writing in two parts by Dr. Sirshendu Mukherjee, Mission Director, BIRAC.
This program is conducted by ASPIRE- BioNEST to bring benefit, clarity, and necessary elements required during grant writing to the aspiring applicants through BIRAC which has various funding opportunities right from ideation to product launch of a life science outcome as a scalable R&D, Technology, and Product – useful to the society in realistic timelines. BIRAC is a Section-8, not-for-profit organisation of DBT, nurtures biotechnology entrepreneurship in scaling technologies in the name of "BioNEST", a flagship programme committed to establish bio-incubators across various academia and institutes in India. It also funds various startup organisations, industry, and academicians who wish to conduct translational research.
UoH and BIRAC together established the life science incubator BioNEST, and ASPIRE (Association for Scientific Pursuits for Innovative Research Enterprises) is a Section-8 not-for-profit organisation, promoted by the UoH, manages the entrepreneurship vertical of UoH. ASPIRE-BioNEST nurtures start-up innovation by entrepreneurs in Life Sciences, including agriculture, biotechnology, healthcare, pharmaceutical, information technology and allied areas.
