Bengaluru: The Horticulture department has cancelled the Independence Day Lal Bagh flower show this year keeping in mind that the event may become the hotspot for the spreading of Covid-19 virus.

Bengaluru: The Horticulture department has cancelled the Independence Day Lal Bagh flower show this year keeping in mind that the event may become the hotspot for the spreading of Covid-19 virus. This is the first time in the history of the state that the most loved annual flower show has been cancelled after Independence.

It was a show which was started in pre-Independence period. It was cancelled once before at the time of 2nd world war. Horticulture minister KC Narayana Gowda confirmed that there will be no flower show this year. He credited the pandemic situation of Covid-19 as the reason.

As per the sources, Horticulture department needs two months of planning to hold the event but due to the spread of Corona Virus in the country, no meetings were held.
