Bengaluru: VV Puram police on Friday arrested four persons, including one Aisha, who allegedly stole a two-day-old baby from Vanivilas Hospital, Bengaluru. Aisha came to Vanivilas hospital on November 11 and entered the ICU, claiming to be a relative of a patient and fled with the newborn.
Finding the child missing, the distraught mother informed the VV Puram police. Acting immediately on the complaint, the police checked the CCTV camera footage and found a woman carrying the baby from the ICU and soon three special teams were formed to nab the accused.
"The special teams started checked all the CCTV footages of the hospital and finally Aisha was arrested a few days back. During interrogation, she admitted to stealing the baby and selling for Rs 80,000 to a couple -- Abdul Rehman and Sania Fatima -- at Kumarswamy layout," a senior police official explained.
Along with Aisha, her sister's husband Wasim Pasha, who helped her steal the baby and the couple who bought the child were also arrested.
