UK Variant enters Telangana and Andhra Pradesh; two infected
Two UK returnees were found infected with fast-spreading Coronavirus variant from UK. They returned to Telangana and AP recently and the health departments of two states conducted Covid tests on them after guidelines issued by union health ministry to monitor health condition of all UK returned passengers since last 4 weeks. After the two passengers tested positive, their samples were sent to CCMB lab for genome sequencing in which the presence of UK variant was detected. While one of them belonged to Telangana, the second infected hailed from Andhra Pradesh

Coronavirus in Mizoram: Mizoram reports six more COVID-19 cases, tally at 4,190
Aizawl: At least six more people, including three children, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, pushing the caseload to 4,190, an official said on Tuesday.
The state has so far reported eight deaths due to the contagion.
The fresh cases were reported from Aizawl and Lawngtlai districts, he said.
Mizoram now has 114 active cases, while 4,068 people have recovered from the disease and discharged from hospitals, the official said.
The recovery rate, at 97 per cent, is improving and the infection rate is declining gradually, he added.
Altogether, 1,77,387 samples have been tested in the state till date, including 1,153 since Monday. (PTI)

Actor Ram Charan tests positive for coronavirus

Coronavirus in Telangana: 397 new cases, 2 deaths in Telangana
Telangana recorded 397 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total positives to over 2.85 lakh while two fatalities pushed the toll to 1,535.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 92, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy with 37 and28 respectively, a government bulletin said on Tuesday providing details as of 8 pm on December 28.
The total number of recoveries stood at 2,77,931.
