Coronavirus In India: India logged 1,68,063 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,58,75,790 which includes 4,461 cases of the Omicron variant, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The active cases rose to 8,21,446, the highest in 208 days, while the death toll climbed to 4,84,213 with 277 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. Of the total 4,461 cases of the Omicron variant, 1,711 people have recovered or migrated so far.

Coronavirus In Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh reported 1831 fresh cases taking the total tally to 20,84,674 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, no deaths reported on Monday. On the other hand, as many as 242 new patients were cured in the last twenty four hours taking the total recoveries to 20,62,974 and there are currently 7195 active cases.

According to district-wise data, Chittoor district reported 467 new infections, followed by Visakhapatnam 295 and East Godavari Vizianagaram has logged the least cases with 40 new cases in the last twenty-four hours.

Coronavirus in Telangana: Active cases surged to 16,496 with Telangana on Tuesday logging 1,920 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 6, 97,775, while the death toll rose to 4,045 with two more fatalities.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of fresh cases with 1,015, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (209) district, the bulletin said, providing details as of 5.30 PM today.

Andhra Pradesh Nigh curfew: AP government postponed imposition of night curfew in view of Sankranti festival and to prevent inconvenience to people returning to their native places to celebrate the festival. Nigh curfew likely from January 18.

    India reported 1,68,063 new coronavirus cases and 277 deaths in the last 24 hours, a Janaury 11 morning update from the Union health ministry showed. The country, which has seen a surge in daily infections in recent weeks, now has a caseload of 35,875,790, with active COVID-19 cases at 8,21,446. As many as 69,959 persons recovered from the illness in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recoveries to 34,430,213. India's recovery rate now stands at 96.36 percent.

    As compared to January 10, fresh COVID cases are down by 11,660. The worst-hit states are Maharashtra (44,388 cases) followed by West Bengal (24,287), Delhi (22,751), Tamil Nadu (12,895) and Karnataka (12,000). India has so far reported 4,461 cases of the fast-spreading Omicron variant, government data shows. Maharashtra at 1,247 has reported the most cases of Omicron in the country followed by Rajasthan at 645, Delhi with 546 and Karnataka with 479.
