Coronavirus in India: India added 2,47,417 new coronavirus infections, the highest single-day rise in the ongoing wave, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,63,17,927, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 13.11 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 10.80 per cent.

The active cases comprise 3.08 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate decreased to 95.59 per cent, the ministry said.

Coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh reported 4348 fresh Coronavirus cases taking the total tally to 20,92,227 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, two deaths reported on Thursday with one each in Nellore and Srikakulam. On the other hand, as many as 261 new patients were cured in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 20,63,516 and there are currently 14,204 active cases.

According to district-wise data, Chittoor district reported 932 new infections, followed by Visakhapatnam 823 and Nellore 395 while West Godavari has logged the least cases with 86 new cases in the last twenty-four hours.

Coronavirus in Telangana: Telangana reported a surge in the daily COVID-19 cases, on Thursday, with 2702 new infections being reported, taking the tally to 7,02,801, while the death toll rose to 4049 with two cases of fatalities, the official health bulletin stated.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the highest number of fresh cases with 1328, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri (248), Ranga Reddy (202), and Sanga reddy (78) districts, the state government bulletin said providing details as of 5.30 pm.

    Global Covid caseload tops 315.3 million

    Amid an ongoing resurgence across the world, the global coronavirus caseload has topped 315.3 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 5.51 million and vaccinations to over 9.51 billion, according to Johns Hopkins University. In its latest update on Thursday morning, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and the death toll stood at 315,390,402 and 5,510,327, respectively, while the total number of vaccine doses administered has increased to 9,519,485,774. The US continues to be the worst-hit country with the world's highest number of cases and deaths at 62,727,044 and 843,624, according to the CSSE.
