Coronavirus in India: India has logged 58,097 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours, and the daily positivity rate is at 4.18 per cent the Union Health Ministry informed on Wednesday.

Coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh reported 434 fresh Coronavirus cases taking the total tally to 20,78,376 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, no deaths reported on Wednesday and the toll stands at 14,499. On the other hand, as many as 102 new patients were cured in the last twenty four hours taking the total recoveries to 20,62,029 and there are currently 1848 active cases. According to district-wise data, Chittoor district reported 68 new infections, followed by Visakhapatnam 63 and Krishna 61 while Prakasam district has logged the least cases with seven new cases in the last twenty-four hours.

Coronavirus in Telangana: Telangana added 1,520 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, pushing the cumulative caseload to 6,85,543. The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 6,168. One more COVID-19 death was reported in the last 24 hours in Telangana.

Among the districts, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was the main contributor of the infection by registering a maximum of 979 new cases during the last 24 hours, followed by Rangareddy (174), Medchal-Malkajgiri (132), and Sangareddy (26). The day's remaining coronavirus cases have been registered by other districts.

Restrictions across India, currently in effect

♦ Uttar Pradesh: Night curfew extended from 10 pm to 6 am, instead of 11 pm to 5 am, from January 6

♦ West Bengal: Shopping malls, offices, metro to run at 50% capacity.

♦ Delhi: Night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. Schools, cinemas, gyms, auditoriums, assembly halls, spas, yoga institutes, amusement and water parks shut

♦ Haryana: Offices to function at 50%, bars and restaurants to function at half capacity

♦ Jharkhand: Markets will be closed at 8 pm

♦ Punjab: Night curfew from 10pm to 5am

    India reported 58,097 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, twice the number seen only four days ago, according to health ministry data, taking the total to more than 35 million.
