Coronavirus in India: India reported 27,553 new COVID-19 cases and 284 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

According to the ministry, the number of Omicron infections stands at 1,525 and it has spread to 23 states. Maharashtra is the worst-affected state with 460 cases, followed by Delhi with 351.


Coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh reported 166 fresh cases taking the total tally to 20,77,486 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, two new deaths registered in the last twenty four hours with one in Nellore and Krishna taking total toll to 14,497.

On the other hand, as many as 130 new patients were cured in the last twenty four hours taking the total recoveries to 20,61,729 and there are currently 1260 active cases.


Coronavirus in Telangana: Telangana on Sunday reported 274 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 6,82,489, while the death toll rose to 4,030 with one more fatality.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most cases with 212, followed by Ranga Reddy (18) district, the bulletin said, providing details as of 5.30 pm on Sunday.

Five more Omicron cases have been recorded in Telangana, taking the total number of cases of the new coronavirus variant in the state to 84, the state health department said on Sunday.

    Filmmaker Rahul Rawail tests positive for Covid-19

    Veteran filmmaker Rahul Rawail, known for movies like 'Betaab' (1983) and 'Arjun' (1985), has tested positive for Covid-19, PTI reported.

    The 70-year-old director had reportedly contracted the virus last week and is recovering. He is one of the latest Bollywood personalities who have recently tested positive for Covid-19 including actors Mrunal Thakur, Nora Fatehi, producer Rhea Kapoor and her filmmaker-husband Karan Boolani.

    Coronavirus in Russia: Russia registers 18,233 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

    Russia registered 18,233 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, which brings the cumulative total to 10,537,966, the federal response center said Sunday.

    Moscow recorded 1,824 new cases, which is the highest number among the Russian regions, followed by 1,468 cases in St. Petersburg and 1,364 in the Moscow region.

    On Saturday, the response center reported a daily tally of 19,751 new cases.

    In the last 24 hours, 811 deaths of patients with COVID-19 and 26,976 discharges were confirmed across the country. (ANI)
