International Women's Day 2022 Live Updates: Women Tech Leaders on "gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow"
International Women's Day 2022 Live Updates: The Hans India spoke to women leaders in technology to know their opinion on "gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow".
International Women's Day 2022 Live Updates: International Women's Day celebrates women's cultural, economic, political and social achievements. The day also marks a call to action to accelerate gender parity. Significant activity is seen worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality. We wish for a gender-equal world free of bias, discrimination and stereotypes—a diverse and inclusive world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can generate women's equality.
The theme for this year's International Women's Day is "gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow", #BreakTheBias. Whether intentional or unconscious bias makes it difficult for women to prosper. Knowing that a bias exists is not enough. We need to act to level the playing field. The Hans India spoke to women leaders in technology to know their opinion on "gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow".

International Women's Day 2022: “ Equality of the sexes and a sustainable future are intrinsically linked. The role & contribution of girls & women around the world in dealing with climate change at the ground level (on a micro village level) and the fight for a sustainable tomorrow is now being recognized by decision-makers and those in power. Women need to be empowered & enabled at par with men in all respects so that they can deal better with the devastating impact of climate change as they are more vulnerable to climate change impacts than men. Give them a voice and power, and watch how they strive to negate the impact of our greed and rampaging climate change. By excluding half of the earth’s human population from power & decision making etc, we are doing mother Earth a great dis-service that will haunt for us decades to come. Without the equality of the sexes, a sustainable tomorrow remains a mirage “.

International Women's Day 2022: Climate change and gender equality are the two most burning issues as per the UN Sustainable Development goals. Efforts are being made globally to advance gender equality and mitigate climate change; which remains as one of the greatest challenges for humanity even today. Thus, this year’s theme rightly brings the two core subjects together- on one hand, it celebrates the contribution of women towards climate improvement, on the other hand, it talks about the need for more involvement from women towards a sustainable environment. Females are inherently more conscious of their atmosphere and surroundings; nurturing people and environment, both come naturally to women. Thus, there is a need for gender equality in the context of climate change, and disaster risk reduction. More female representators will work wonders for strengthening the UN Sustainable Development goals. Every country can move towards a sustainable future, only when more and more women are encouraged to join the force and there is equality everywhere.

International Women's Day 2022: Every woman is a torchbearer to the next generation. She imparts knowledge, culture, traditions, values, and ethics to future generations. Being a mother, daughter, wife, leader, professional, house maker, she has the unique opportunity to mold and positively influence the people around her. This women's day, it's a call to all the beloved women to realize their inherent potential, to rise above limitations, to lead by example, and to transform the lives of many younger generations.

International Women's Day 2022: It's no secret that we continue to live in a male-dominated society that limits women's mobility. I had to face many superiors who doubted my abilities solely due to my gender. However, all it took was determination and thick skin to disregard the naysayers and focus on creating work I was proud of, which automatically proved my capabilities and helped me create a place for myself in the industry.

As women we are conditioned to believe that we should know it all and do it all ourselves. One of the first myths every women entrepreneur should break is this precise belief and learn to seek help. Be it from building right team to seeking help from mentors and family, building a right ecosystem is so crucial for every woman on her entrepreneurial path.

International Women's Day 2022: The Indian corporate world has evolved significantly within the last decade. However, when it comes to gender dynamics, it still is quite heavily skewed in favour of men, despite the overwhelming number of women walking alongside and even outshining their peers in almost every domain. At SIG, we believe that organisations must embrace diversity holistically, in order to ensure equitable opportunities, foster every individual’s potential, and create leaders for a sustainable tomorrow!

"Diversity in the workplace is already a well-known notion in several companies. In recent years, however, organisations have been committed to further empowering women while ensuring an equitable workplace. From upskilling employees to having a gender-inclusive workforce, they are cultivating a safe environment that encourages open discussion. Infact, the younger generation entering the job is extremely smart and is redefining the career landscape by being intolerant to regressive practices and thoughts. Today's leaders should carry forward this mantle of progress, exude modern leadership that gives equal opportunities to aspiring individuals regardless of gender, and support more leaders to emerge from diverse sociocultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, in order to establish a sustainable future.”

International Women's Day 2022: "The first order of the day should always be competence and capability despite the gender. It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. The thing that I would like to say to younger women is that it is so much more fun being in charge. Understand your strengths and passions, when you do what you love, it shows. We all have the potential to be a driving force and strengthening women in each and every section of the society would only uplift the overall growth."
