People are worried and freighted in view of the suspicious rumours about the possible cases of Omicron in the East Godavari district. District Collector Chevuri Hari Kiran told "The Hans India" that three foreign returnees are tested Covid -19 positive and are kept in quarantine in the East Godavari district. Two are stated to be from Singapore and one is from Bangladesh. He said that for the past four days they have been staying in the district. It is stated that they tested negative before they started their journey from their places. But, on arriving they are tested Covid -19 positive in the district and immediately they are kept in quarantine. Mr. Hari Kiran said that all their reports have been sent to Central for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad for further testing and confirmation. District Medical and Health Officer Dr. KVS Gowreswar Rao told " The Hans India" that he has been on leave and hence not obtained any information regarding foreign returnees being tested Covid -19 positive.

Omicron variant in Telangana: Telangana on Wednesday reported two cases of Omicron variant for the first time. According to the Telangana medical and health department, two passengers who arrived from Kenya and Somalia have tested positive for the Omicron, a new variant of COVID-19.

Dr Srinivas Rao, director of Telangana public health said that the two passengers arrived in Hyderabad from December 12. While the woman arrived from Kenya is about 24 years old and another passenger from Somalia is 23 years old. "Their samples were collected on December 12 and sent to genome sequencing. The results were out on Tuesday night," Srinivas Rao said, adding that the two passengers were shifted to Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.

He continued that the two passengers were residing in Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki. Tests were also conducted on their family members.

"A seven-year-old boy was tested positive for Omicron at the airport. However, he boarded Kolkata flight soon after arriving at Shamshabad airport," he added. 

Hyderabad: A married woman and her lover attempted suicide here at Kandlapalli forest area of Vikarabad district on Tuesday night. According to SI Srisailam, the woman (32) and the man (22) are said to be in a relationship for sometime now. On realizing that their families would not accept for their marriage, the two consumed poison. Locals who noticed the two in unconscious state alerted the police who sent them to a private hospital in Vikarabad.  The condition of the two is said to be critical. The police said that the woman has two children and is working in a private firm in Hyderabad. Both the victims are the residents of Borabanda in Hyderabad, it is learned. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Kurnool: The founder of Santhi Ashramam Trust, Himalaya Guruji has said that the trust has taken up a novel initiative to extend free and quality treatment to every eligible poor. With the aim, the trust has started Santhi Poly clinic at the Woodlands complex near Gowri Gopal hospital. The patients would get treatment for One Rupee, said Himalaya Guru Ji. Speaking to The Hans India on Tuesday, the Himalaya Guruji has said that now-a-days the treatment has become very expensive. Several people, particularly the poor, are not in a position to afford the costly treatment at private and corporate hospitals. Kurnool government general hospital has been extending medical treatment to thousands of patients every day. The patients from the neighbouring States like Telangana and Karnataka and from the adjoining districts like Anantapur, Prakasam and Kadapa would also throng the hospital for getting treatment, said the Guruji.Read more
