The BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi deserves kudos for coming to power for a second consecutive term.
The BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi deserves kudos for coming to power for a second consecutive term. The party did well in almost all states except in the southern part where local parties dominated.
However it is a great surprise that the electorate voted BJP back to power once again brushing aside all unfavourable factors such as a five year low in GDP growth, and increased rate of unemployment, lynching and other pro Hindutva activities, demonetisation woes etc.,
The BJP should not think that it is their own strategies and works done during their last regime and undented support given by the public to their policies. They know the truth well. In fact after the announcement of election dates the BJP did not even dream that their party would get absolute majority more than last time.
Most of the promises made during last time have not been fulfilled and people would have thought that given a second chance BJP would realise this and fulfil the unfinished works left in the last regime like, agrarian crisis, boost economic growth and employment, improving bilateral relations with foreign countries especially in the wake of recent attacks by terrorists in Balakot and Pulwama, the unfinished banking sector reforms, housing to poor etc.
It is surprising that the economists also are confused about the health of Indian Economy because the data released by the government and the existing economic situation does not correlate.
One more reason in favour of BJP's stunning majority is there is no proper alternative though promised to be provided by the Mahagathbandhan people did not believe in them.
Regarding the religions that played a role in the elections all upper caste people automatically voted for BJP and the minority religions did feel that Modi is better as he did not go against them, instead he made some policies favourable to them like triple Talaq etc.
Now it is the responsibility the NDA II to make true the hopes of people by not repeating the mistakes done in last five years and see that all other promises are fulfilled .
