Modi can't fool people forever

Hats off to Gidugu Rudra Raju (Galwan Valley skirmish: Modi must clarify remarks, THI, June 25)! At a time when the voices of people are being crushed, the ex-MLC and Secretary of AICC has boldly exposed the facts of PM Modi's failure and his regime particularly when we talked about his statement on the India-China border. If Modi's statement on the Galwan Valley is considered, then how come our 20 Indian soldiers including Col Santosh Babu were killed by the Chinese troops at LAC? How long PM Modi will make people fools? Being the Prime Minister of India, holding high administrative position, he should not have made such irresponsible statements due to which, he degraded himself. However, while issuing statements, Modi should be more cautious and do good homework, because people no longer believe his statements and promises made earlier.

Opening places of worships, a wrong move

While unlocking lockdown, it was not right to open malls, restaurants and places of worship. In Tirupati, one lakh devotees visited in two weeks. Now our country slipped down from 6th place to 4th in number of coronavirus cases. At this stage, the Supreme court gave permission to celebrate Ratha Yatra only at Puri not at other places, that too with several conditions stipulated. Huge crowds throng the streets to have darshan of Lord Jagannath. Complying with those conditions for priests and public is impractical. Thus, Ratha Yatra celebrations may trigger rapid virus spread rapidly and we may be on the top soon. We will not be able to manage huge crowds. There is no use of regretting later.

Stop naming schemes as per CM's whims

While appreciating the initiative taken by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, one cannot but to point out the differences between the Central and State governments of naming the proposed people's welfare schemes. Whatever schemes are introduced by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they are named after the concept of the schemes but not after his name unlike our Chief Minister naming after him all schemes which he introduced as though he is spending from his purse. Since it is the government's funds, it should be spent on government's name. If anybody gives his own money, then he can name the schemes as he pleases.

Bestow Bharat Ratna on PV

It is laudable that the Telangana government took a decision to celebrate the birth centenary of former Prime Minister of India, PV Narasimha Rao. He was a polyglot, polymath and a proud son of Telugu soil who led full five-year term despite having no full-fledged majority in the Parliament, but by winning hearts of Opposition parties with his soft, shrewd, stoic and strategic silence. He rendered yeoman service as Education Minister and Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh and holding many important Cabinet portfolios at the Centre. In certain critical circumstances, he was by chance chosen as leader of Congress Party that eventually made him the Prime Minister. New economic reforms initiated by his government in 1990-91 were well responded and adopted by his successive governments also for strengthening the financial and commercial sectors besides several welfare measures. No need to say about the veracity and perspicacity of his intellectual acumen. When some State level leaders were honoured with the highest civilian award of Bharat Ratna, why not it be adored to this national and international statesman? Earlier governments tried and failed to get PV selected for this award. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's efforts in this regard should not be a customary one. However, this proud visionary is more glittering than any jewel.
