Bengaluru: In another jolt to Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, the Karnataka High Court has quashed his petition questioning the case registered against him by the Lokayukta police and subsequent proceedings pending before the special court in connection with illegal denotification of land at an upscale area in Bengaluru city.

The High Court has also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner. The order was given by justice John Michael Cunha.

According to the sources, the CM will decide the next course of action after consulting his lawyers. Mr Yediyurappa may knock the doors of the Supreme Court.

The case was registered on the direction of Lokayukta Court to Lokayukta police on February 21, 2015, based on a complaint by Vasudeva Reddy, a resident of Bellandur.

Last month, the bench pulled up the police for delay in investigation against the CM and observed, "The circumstances noted above clearly indicate that the delay is intentional and deliberate. Though, at this juncture, it cannot be said that respondent No.1 has succumbed to the pressure of the petitioner, who has been holding the position of the Chief Minister of the State of Karnataka, yet respondent No.1 being an independent and impartial body entrusted with the duty to investigate into the misconduct of the public servants objectively cannot give rise to an impression in the mind of the general public that it is playing into the hands of the political bigwigs."
