In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, PVR Cinemas opened a five-screen facility at PVR Aerohub, making it the first multiplex in the nation to be located inside an airport complex. The cinema will assist neighbourhood residents in addition to meeting the entertainment demands of incoming and departing travellers, the firm said in a statement. 1155 people can be accommodated in the airport theatre, which has 2K RGB+ laser projectors, digital stereoscopic projection, and cutting-edge Dolby Atmos high-definition immersive audio.

PVR Cinemas will have 12 properties and 77 screens in Chennai after this launch, while strengthening its position in Tamil Nadu with 88 screens spread over 14 locations. Its South India screen count would increase to 328 across 53 buildings.

Sanjeev Kumar Bijli, joint managing director of PVR Ltd ecplained that the decision to build a theatre near to the airport was made strategically in order to give customers a movie-going experience while they wait for a delayed flight or arrive early at Chennai International Airport.
