Hyderabad: Demanding dismissal of Ashok Kumar, Secretary of the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), and Education Minister forthwith for allegedly causing suicides of failed Intermediate students by gross irregularities in awarding marks, the activists of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Friday staged a dharna in front of the BIE office.

ABVP national executive committee member Praveen Reddy and Greater Hyderabad city ABVP secretary Pagidipalli Srihari criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for forgetting his promise of rendering justice to the victims of BIE irregularities and criminal negligence.

They also alleged that after announcing fresh results after re-verification of marks of the students, the BIE cheated the students within an hour by announcing fresh results with errors.

The ABVP leaders pointed out that Anamika, who was declared to have passed the examination with 48 marks in the website in the morning, changed its version in the same evening stating that she got only one mark extra and failed with 21 marks.

In this manner, the BIE officials played with the lives of innocent Intermediate students and drove 26 students to commit suicide, they alleged and demanded that the government prosecute BIE secretary Ashok Kumar and dismiss him for criminal negligence.

ABVP leaders demanded that the State government drop the Education Minister for his negligence and pay an ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh to each family of victims. They also demanded that the Globarina firm be blacklisted for its horrific functioning.

They asked the State government to order an inquiry into the missing of advanced supplementary examination papers in Warangal and bring culprits to book. They also demanded that the government take immediate steps to purge the Board of Intermediate Education for its malfunctioning.
