Alert workers prevent spread of fire

Pashamailaram: Alert workers on Monday afternoon prevented spreading of the fire in Devi Enterprises to adjoining industries. The fire struck the factory after burning of old tyres which gave rise to a sudden blaze. Surprised and shocked by the fire, workers ran out of the unit helter-skelter, thus averting a major mishap. Alert industry owners informed the Fire Services Department. Two fire-fighters brought the blaze under control, SI Janaya Naik told The Hans India.

According to the department sources, it became clear that the management and the industries department failed to take precautions although a similar accident had occurred on the premises earlier. Inspector of Factories, Srividya visited the spot. She said no loss of property was reported. No details of loss were available, she stated, adding that an inquiry was on to know the cause of fire.
