Charminar: Marking the birth anniversary of Islam's last Prophet Muhammad, Muslims are gearing up for the celebrations on Sunday and the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal (as per the Islamic calendar). Most of the major crossroads are lit and decorated, while replicas of important holy structures adorn major localities, to mark the occasion in different parts of Old City.

As Milad is considered to be an important occasion after Ramzan and Bakrid festivities, the Muslims, particularly Sunni, besides remembering Prophet Muhammad and his teachings, also take out rallies in spreading His message of peace amongst different communities.

During the evening hours, various organisations have planned grand public meetings, where Islamic scholars and intellectuals will remind the newer generation about the Prophet's message to the world, while in some areas, Aasar-e-Mubarak (relics) would be isplayed. One can see the people distributing sweets, snacks, juices, water to fellow devout, besides distribution of food.

Islamic organisations have already conducted blood donation camps, while marking the occasion. Sunni United Forum of India (SUFI) will be organising a peace rally starting from Quadri Chaman in Falaknuma to Mecca Masjid near Charminar, which will be attended by thousands of people. The All India Majlis-e-Tameer-e-Millat will be organising its 70th grand public meeting, which would be attended by the International and national Islamic preachers in Exhibition grounds on Sunday.

The Jalsa-e-Milad-un-Nabi will be oraganised by the AIMIM in Darussalaam on Sunday and many other organisations will be organising public meetings and holding worshipful rallies.

The decoration of Yakutpura on Eid-Milad-un-Nabi remains a major attraction, as each year thousands visit from far away areas to witness unique themes every year. Interestingly people from all religion and caste can be seen on the day.

The decoration will start from Bada Bazar in Yakutpura to Masjid-e-Lashkar-Jung in Etebar Chowk, where the total area can be seen decorated by colourfull lights, even as exhibition of Islamic relics and replica of holy places are displayed.

For the past 15 years the Ghulamane Mustafa Committee makes replicas of Holy structures. Till now they have come up with Gumbad-e-Khizra (green-colored dome built above the tomb of the prophet Mohammed) which is present in Madina, Saudi Arabia with minute details remains major attraction among visitors.
