Hyderabad : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday shot off a missive to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding to allow the job aspirants to attempt the competitive exams conducted by the Union government in their mother tongue, Telugu language. The CM also wrote another letter to President Ram Nath Kovind requesting to issue a commemorative postal stamp in memory of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.

He brought to the notice of Prime Minister that all the competitive exams for recruitment to posts in the Central sector, including Public Sector Undertaking, Railways, Defence, national banks are held in only two languages – English and Hindi. The students who do not study in English medium or those who are not from Hindi-speaking States are facing disadvantage in the selection process.

Equal and fair opportunities should be provided to the students from all States, KCR said, requesting Modi to permit the candidates from non-Hindi speaking States to write the exams in the regional languages. He demanded the UPSC and all other recruitment agencies like Railway Recruitment Board, public sector banks, Reserve Bank of India and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to conduct the exams in the regional languages.

The Chief Minister requested Kovind to release the stamp in memory of PV Narasimha Rao during his South India sojourn at Hyderabad this year end. He informed the President in the letter that the Centre was planning to bring out a commemorative stamp.

Chandrashekar Rao explained PV's contribution to the country in various capacities including as Prime Minister, Union Minister and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh during the latter's 50-year political stint. The letter was also forwarded to Union IT and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
