Malkajgiri: GHMC Malkajgiri Deputy Commissioner Venugopal toured various colonies in Malkajgiri division and explained various preventive measures to control the spread of mosquitoes on Thursday.

Speaking during the awareness session, he asked people to take all the necessary precautions such as covering water storage tanks with caps or lids, ensuring that there was no water stagnation on the premises. As mosquitoes which spread dengue and malaria breed in fresh clean water, residents should take all measures to prevent water stagnation, he said.

He advised people to use mosquito repellents, mosquito nets and keep their surroundings clean. During his visit to Narsimhareddy Nagar Colony, he observed garbage dumped near open nala. He warned that serious action would be taken against those who dump waste near open nalas.

He instructed the GHMC staff to clean the place and take necessary measures to control mosquitoes in the area. The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by AMOH Dr Helen Nirmala, sanitary supervisor D Ravinder Reddy and sanitary staff.
