Patancheru: The agreement valid for three years signed between Asian Paints workers and the management in local industrial estate was 'historic', said the association general secretary Narsimha Reddy on Wednesday. Reddy is also the district INTUC president.

Addressing a meeting in the estate, he said the agreement was reached during the day in the Joint Labour Commissioner's office in Hyderabad paving the way for wage increase for workers. Workers with 33 years seniority would now get an increase of Rs.14,662 in the first year of the agreement, Rs.15,182 in the second year and Rs.15,901 in the third year.In the case of junior workers, the wage in the first year would be Rs.9709, Rs.17,403 in the second year, and Rs.11,159 in the third year.

According to Reddy, in ex-gratia the increased amount in 2019 would be Rs.5,800, in 2020 Rs.63,850, and in 2021 Rs.67,850. In TA each technician would get an additional Rs.150. A retired worker would receive 21 days gratuity, Rs 2 lakh medical insurance, 1.30 paise VDA (as existing), advance of Rs 60,000, vehicle purchase assistance of Rs 40,000, welfare amount Rs 6,600, gift amount of Rs 3,800. Reddy stated that the agreement was possible only through the efforts of INTUC all-India president Sanjiva Reddy. He thanked the workers for backing the TU in signing of the agreement.
