Masab Tank: Central committee president of BC Ctudents' Association Vikram Goud met higher education secretary Srinivas Rao here on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum demanding local and BC reservations in admissions at Nalsar University.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Goud said that Nalsar University was established in 1998 under National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University Act, but it has failed to implement local and BC reservation in admissions. He said that every central university established under the university act is supposed to admit 85% of admissions to local candidates.

The university has also not implemented 29% reservations to BCs, he said. While the other national and law universities, such as Gujarat Chanukya National Law College, Gandhi National University of Patiala, National Law University of Kathak, National Law School in Tamil Nadu and Mumbai University, are implementing reservations, Nalsar University has never implemented reservations in its admissions, he said.

Vikram Goud demanded CM K Chandrashekar Rao to intervene in the matter and to press for local reservations. Vikram Goud said that they would soon meet Chief Justice of Telangana High Court, who is the chancellor of the university, and explain him the injustice being done to the BC students. He warned of an agitation if the state government does not intervene in the matter and pressurise Nalsar University to implement reservations.

The student leaders said that the secretary had promised to send a notice to the university administration asking for their stand on the issue. Student leaders Rajula Lingaiah, general secretary of BC student association Bade Saab, Chandramouli, Indram Rajaka and others were present on the occasion.
