CRPF sets up Centre for Divyang Empowerment
It will also be developed as centre of excellence in para-sports field
Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the National Centre for Divyang Empowerment (NCDE) at the CRPF group centre situated in near Hyderabad on Thursday.
Appreciating the efforts of the Central Reserve Force in setting up the NCDE, Kishan Reddy said that it was the first institution of its kind in the country among the central police forces for skilling, re-skilling and rehabilitating of the Divyang Warriors, i.e. the CRPF personnel who have sustained grievous injuries in line of duty. Congratulating the CRPF for implementing the vision of Home Minister Amit Shah, Kisan Reddy said that the centre has set an example for all CAPFs as the Government of India has declared the year 2020 as "Manav Samvedana Varsh."
The MoS further said that the centre will definitely enrich the confidence and self-esteem of Divyangs, so that they become an asset for CRPF and the nation. He said that this initiative of CRPF aims to take in its fold, Divyangs of the society, Divyangs of other forces and the Divyang wards of CRPF soldiers. He informed that the centre will be developed as a 'centre of excellence' in the field of para-sports and the Government of India is committed to the welfare of all CAPFs. He reiterated "As per the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji and under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah Ji, concrete steps have been taken for the welfare of Divyang CAPF Jawans".
CRPF DG AP Maheswari stated that CRPF is a "Force that Dares, but also Cares." He said that the aim of establishing such a centre is to enhance self-esteem and at the same time ensure that the soldiers are equipped with skills to work in a changing world. "We are taking the initiative to set up an institute to provide medical, psychological and mental support to the injured. Our brave soldiers would be re-skilled in an activity of their choice and talent which will range from sports to computers", he said.
The DG informed that 24 Divyangs of CRPF from various parts of the country have reported to the centre for the first batch of training. Earlier, Sanjay A Lathkar, IG-Southern Sector, CRPF, welcomed the chief guest and other eminent personalities and mentioned that this endeavour of CRPF is to transform Divyang warriors to Cyber Warriors and help them acquire skills in Para-sports.
Complementing the CRPF, Kishan Reddy said, "The CRPF has distinguished itself as valorous force, unwavering in their commitment to protect the nation and the efforts, dedication, grit and valour in safeguarding and keeping peace in our country is commendable and unparalleled".
Kishan Reddy later visited the facilities developed for Divyang warriors and also witnessed an exhibition volley ball match of Divyang warriors. He also played a badminton match along with Divyang warriors.
M Mahender Reddy, DGP, Telangana, Padmasree Dr Deepa Malik, Parul Parmar (Indian Para Athlete), Sandeep Mishra, Assistant Commandant, BSF, and various dignitaries from the State participated in the inaugural function.
