Musheerabad: An awareness program was conducted here at Bade Masjid located at Bholakpur to educate people on maintain cleanliness, to dissuade people from using plastic bags and explain the importance the objectives of Swachh Hyderabad on Wednesday. GHMC Deputy Commissioner Uma Prakash organised the programme. Musheerabad MLA Muta Gopal and local corporators participated in it.
Speaking on the occasion, Uma Prakash said that the awareness programme was conducted at Bade Masjid as around 10,000 Muslims were expected to offer special prayer at the masjid on Ramzan. After consulting the Muslim elders, people who attended the programme were made to take a pledge promising to maintain cleanliness, not use plastic bags and protect environment, she said.
The devout Muslims who came to offer prayers at the masjid were wished Ramzan greetings, were given saplings and explained about the importance of the maintaining cleanliness, she said. Volunteers displayed play cards with messages calling them to protect environment. Local corporator Aqeem Hymad, Muta Jaisimha, Mallesham, Baktiyar, Pehalwan, Prabhakar and a large number of Muslims participated in the program.
