Hyderabad: After rescuing a cow from a septic tank at Alwal a day before, the staff of the GHMC Disaster Response Force (DRF) and fire officials rescued an eagle which got trapped on a tree.

It was trapped in the tree due to a broken thread of Chinese manja in front of the State Assembly. The bird flew away immediately after she was freed from the trap. It was trapped on a mango tree near Gate No.2 of the State Assembly.

When the assembly staff informed them about the ordeal of an eagle, DRF personnel, who were on duty near the Gun Park, arrived at the spot and with the help of a ladder and rescued the eagle. A coordinated effort was put by GHMC's DRF and fire services personnel in rescuing the bird.

The exercise went on for about 1.5 hours, said K Tukaram, Fire Officer of the State Assembly. Recently, THE DRF teams rescued a deer from drowning in the Nallagandla Lake and a cow from a septic tank at Allwyn Colony on Wednesday.

Chinese manja is a synthetic thread coated with glass and metal and has been banned by the government for use as kite strings. Birds stuck in manja have a slow, painful death if not rescued in time.
