In a bid to provide last-mile connectivity, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) and ETO Motors Private Limited have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deploy electric 3-wheelers on the station premises.

Hyderabad: In a bid to provide last-mile connectivity, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) and ETO Motors Private Limited have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deploy electric 3-wheelers on the station premises.

As many as 25 vibrant yellow color electric three-wheelers (KYTO) would be launched at Metro stations. The uniqueness of this project is the allocation of 50% of vehicles for BPO women.

Venugopal Rao Nellutla, the president of ETO Motors Pvt Ltd, said, "We have planned to allocate 50% vehicle to marginalised women at free of cost and assured that daily they would earn minimum Rs 500-700 and driving licenses would be procured for them by our organisation."

"Also, training would be given to the women in self-defence. Right now we are visiting various slums and explaining the interested women about this concept. Vibrant yellow color electric 3 w vehicles (EVs), would provide end-to-end connectivity to passengers with good frequency at a moderate fare," Rao elaborated.

The car can accommodate three passengers. This vehicle would come with a battery that can be charged very easily. As the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited is going to provide space to deploy the vehicles at Metro station premises and also to charge the vehicles and also traveling fare would be decided by HMRL.

They are also planning to launch an app where passengers can book the electric three-wheelers from their residence and would be picked from the locality and would be dropped at the metro station, added Venugopal Rao.
