Even a brief spell causes water logging

Srinagar Colony: Overflowing drainage and water stagnation in Srinagar Colony were a major concern for the residents on Thursday. This scenario after every spell of rain harries them no end. Though numerous complaints were filed earlier over their hardships, there has been no redressal of their grievances.

Pedestrians and commuters complained about the dirty water spilling on them as the vehicles passed by. The situation has become worse now due to the monsoon, rued a resident. "Roads have to be resurfaced frequently to avoid pothole formation and water stagnation" said Keerthy Kumar, a resident.

"Overflowing drain and water stagnation is the major issue which we complain every time. This issue has been turning worse for the last two months. We have complained to GHMC several times, but there is no action from their end. We are very much disappointed and aggrieved due to their negligence," deplored Bilahari, a photographer residing in the area.

"Water stagnation in front of my shop is affecting my business. We are also concerned about our health as stagnation of water is causing rampant breeding of mosquitoes and other insects. We can't display products outside for sales. We incur 50% of loss in business," said a worried Latha, the owner of a sweetshop.
