Gaudily painted tree trunks an eyesore

A S Rao Nagar: Commuters on the Sainikpuri to A S Rao Nagar stretch are now greeted with mint green and orange coloured tree trunks along the way. The authorities painted the trees with an intention to beautify the stretch, but passersby say the colours are a sore eye.

Radhika Rani, a medical transcriptionist, said, "The authorities could have thought of a sober colour. It is such a dampener." Major Rajan, a resident of Sainikpuri, said, "I was surprised to see the trees painted. Where was the need to paint them? It is a sheer waste of money and also does not fit well with the environment."
