GHMC borewell supplies polluted water

The officials of the GHMC now understand the gravity of groundwater pollution prevailing in the Jeedimetla Industrial area. The officials, who never bothered to look into the repeated plaints on water pollution, were in for a surprise when a new dug out borewell in municipal office started dispensing polluted water!
Quthbullapur: The officials of the GHMC now understand the gravity of groundwater pollution prevailing in the Jeedimetla Industrial area. The officials, who never bothered to look into the repeated plaints on water pollution, were in for a surprise when a new dug out borewell in municipal office started dispensing polluted water!
A well was dug on the office premises three days ago to watering the plants. When workers opened the bore for watering, water-laden with chemicals poured out of the newly dug borewell. This shows how badly the ground water has been polluted in the area. There are many chemical factories operating in the industrial area. The government decided to shift them to faraway places.
But nothing has been done so far and chemical plants are working with impunity before, and allegedly dumping chemical effluent in residential localities. Residents allege that even effluent treatment plant here also dispose huge chemical wastages. They appeal authorities to take appropriate action and save people and environment.
Rusted iron benches pose threat to visitors
Another sight of sheer negligence by the officials on the municipal office is poor maintenance of the amenities. Iron benches have been arranged on the premises of municipal office for the comfort of visitors. As a result of improper maintenance, the benches have been completely damaged. Even high rung officials walk past these benches daily but never bothered to repair them. Dozens of people visit the office and are at a risk of getting injured by sitting on the rusted and broken benches accidentally. Visitors who found the deplorable condition of the benches demanded immediate replacement of the benches.
