GHMC Elections 2020: The GHMC is gearing up for the upcoming polls and putting in place all the arrangements including the special arrangement for the disabled voters such as the provision of wheelchairs and minimum infrastructure ramps.

Hyderabad: The GHMC is gearing up for the upcoming polls and putting in place all the arrangements including special arrangement for the disabled voters such as provision of wheelchairs and minimum infrastructure ramps.

According to corporation officials, besides establishment of minimum infrastructure ramps, toilets, drinking water facilities at all polling stations, as part of special arrangements for the disabled voters and to ensure their participation in the polling process, wheelchairs will be provided at all the polling stations of 150 divisions going for polls.

They informed that out of 74,04,286 voters under GHMC limits, there are 38,56,770 male and 35,46,847 female voters, while there are 649 voters in others category. The nominations for the contestants are being accepted between 10 am and 3 pm and while filing nominations only two people are allowed along with the candidate.

The GHMC which will be distributing voter slips to all voters in Hyderabad in the coming days will be monitoring the election process through the establishment of a special control room at GHMC headquarters. Supervision of polling stations will be done through CCTV cameras in the control room through webcasting.

Besides the GHMC will also run awareness campaigns amongst the general public to take an active part in the polling process and exercise their franchise towards increasing the polling percentage. For the smooth conduct of elections, the senior officers will be appointed as nodal officers.
