Hyderabad: The GHMC Standing committee resolved to pay Rs 75 lakh compensation to families of eight persons who died in management of manholes and septic tanks in Hyderabad.

A meeting was held under the aegis of Mayor Bonthu Rammohan at GHMC office on Thursday. GHMC commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar, standing committee members Md Abdul Rahman, Md Mustafa Ali, Mohammad Misbahuddin, Majid Hussain, Mamta, Ekkela Chaitanya Kanna, Md Akhil Ahmed, Sheik Hameed, Sabeha Begum and Samala Hema were present.

Besides paying compensation, the important resolutions taken by standing committee include - Increase of some officials' tenure; to allot 716 shops in 19 municipal complexes on reservation basis to SC's, ST's, physically challenged , SLF/TLF, Nayi Bhramin and washermen; increasing the deadline for 221 traffic signal management up to February 28,. 2020 for BEL; to appoint four research associates from NIUM paying Rs 45,000 per month each for preparing local area plan for new link roads and development of slip roads in Greater Hyderabad and approved road extension from Raidurgam Gangotri Public School to guest house.

GHMC officials Hari Chandana, Vishwajit Kampati, Adwaith Kumar Singh, Kenedi,Vijaya Lakshmi, Krishna, Srinivas Reddy, Sankariah, Suresh, Ziauddin, and others were present.
