Govardhana puja held with fervour, pomp
The annual Govardhana Puja and Annakutotsava was celebrated grandly today at the Hare Krishna Golden Temple, Banjara Hills Road No 12.
Hyderabad: The annual Govardhana Puja and Annakutotsava was celebrated grandly today at the Hare Krishna Golden Temple, Banjara Hills Road No 12.The highlight of the event was the replica of Govardhana Hill (Annakuta) made of 400kg non-perishable food items. The Hill was marked with various kundas (Ponds) like Shyama Kunda, Radha Kunda and other important pilgrimage sites on the Govardhana Parikrama marga.
The program started with a "Go-Puja" which is an offering of Krishna Prasadam to Cows and Calf's in the morning later in the evening the Grand Darshana of the Govardhana Hill made out of various edible food items and decorated with various flowers, which was exquisitely carved out by Devotees to resemble the actual Govardhana Hill, followed by a "Pravachan" depicting the importance of Govardhana Lila. Then, the devotees witnessed a spectacular Govardhana Arati and all were given an opportunity to offer Ghee lamps to the Lord and do "Parikrama" of the Hill.
Speaking on the occasion Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad president Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa said, "Lord Krishna's past times with his devotees are called leelas and this is Govardhana Leela in which Lord saves all the residents of Vrindavan from the attack of Demi-God Indra who want to take revenge for not worshipping him. Whoever worships Giri Govardhana is bestowed with Health, Wealth, Peace & Prosperity." Later, all the devotees were fed dinner prasadam.
