Hyderabad: Constable who kicked father of deceased in Patancheru suspended

A constable, N Sridhar who kicked the father of a suicide victim who ended her life in the college hostel on Tuesday has been suspended by the Sangareddy Superintendent of Police Chandana Deepti on Thursday.

Sridhar was seen kicking the father of the 16-year-old girl, Sandhya Rani who hanged herself from the ceiling in her hostel room in Velimala village. Sandhya was pursuing intermediate first year and was suffering from fever. It is alleged that the college authorities neither sent her home nor got her treated.

The constable kicked Sandhya's father after the latter did not allow her daughter's body from being taken to the mortuary. Reacting to the issue, DGP Mahender Reddy passed the orders to suspend the concerned police officer and attached to headquarters. He asked Sangareddy SP to take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Upon the orders of the DGP, the SP Chandana Deepti tweeted,"The Police Officer, N Sridhar, PC-349 who is seen kicking the father of the deceased in the Patancheru incident of 26.02.2020, is placed under suspension."
