As many as 20 students of Kasturba School at Balampet fell sick when they consumed rice-flakes. This is the second time that such an incident took place. Learning about the incidents through the media, the MLA visited them and inquired about their condition.

He inspected the rice-flakes served to the students and got angry when worms are found in them. He pulled up the special officer Asha Latha. DEO Renuka Devi explained to him that a food committee consisting of eight members has to look after the quality of the food. The MLA told them to return the groceries which were of inferior quality.

He demoted the SO and promoted senior teacher Basamma. He warned of stringent action if such incidents are repeated. ZPTC Kotla Mahipal, Madhusudan Yadav and others were present on the occasion.
