Hyderabad: Observing the major problem of the old age people and bed-ridden people, Alladi Prabhakar from Jagtial district invented a 'Multipurpose Cot' which drew a good number of orders from Bangalore and Chennai cities. The cot can be useful for various purposes; especially, it is of a great help to the people who are physically challenged and paralytic and orthopedic patients as well as pregnant women.
Prabhakar, the innovator who founded Prabhath Industries, studied only till Class 10. He said that, "Multipurpose Cot is useful for elders and those suffering from ailments. This bed has provisions for washing face, resting, adjustable sitting and sleeping position and patient can also be given bathing on the cot itself." The main objective behind this innovative multipurpose cot is to help patients to have bathroom facilities from their cot, without assistance," he explained.
"Multipurpose Cot is a great innovation and it is helping serve my grandfather who is bed-ridden. As everyone in my family is a working professional, we could not be there for his assistance all the time and had to hire a service boy for whom we had to pay Rs 12,000 a month, With this Cot, many issues were resolved and it is working well and is easy and flexible to use," said SK Kiran from Bangalore. "Many users of Multipurpose Cot are extremely happy with the product, as is discernible from by their satisfied looks and the appreciation shared in the feedback," says Pranai who works at Prabhath Industries.
The cot has a built-in-commode with P-Trap system, which can be connected directly to the drainage pipeline in the house, which gives a big relief to the patients who are physically unable to move. Whereas the same multipurpose bed is made without commode, it is equipped with a bed pan attached to it and flexible to be inserted and removed for every use. But it requires help of other person. If a drainage pipeline connection is not possible, a container is provided with bed can be used.
The commode has a flush water connection so that the patient can clean their commode easily and also has a hand shower pipe for bathing on bed. Wash basin is also attached to the bed for easy face wash. A water connection is required to use water from both the taps. All we need to do is just connect the inlet and the water tap.
The cot also has a manual push back option for the seat adjustments, such that patient can adjust the seat in various angles required. The platform of the bed is made up of fiber, which is light in weight and standard in quality, is rust-free and lasts long.
Its dimensions are spacious with 78 inches length, 36 inches width and 20 inches height. It is much lighter compared to other beds and it is flexible to move as it weighs just 55 kg. What is more, it is affordable, at Rs 18,500.
