A two-day national seminar on Islamic Studies which was organised by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with Henry Martyn Institute (HMI) concluded on a grand note on Friday.

Hyderabad: A two-day national seminar on Islamic Studies which was organised by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in collaboration with Henry Martyn Institute (HMI) concluded on a grand note on Friday.

T Samuel, Director, HMI, expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of the seminar and opined his desire to continue collaboration with the department of Islamic Studies, MANUU.

The valedictory was held at Henry Martyn Institute, Hyderabad. Prof Ayub Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, MANUU in his presidential remarks pointed out that Islamic teachings encourage the aptitude of research and enquiry. Prof Saud Alam Qasmi, Scholar from Aligarh Muslim University, chief guest of the valedictory, described the theme of the seminar 'Islamic Studies: Concept, Present Scenario and Future' as unique and very relevant.

Scholars from various parts of the country discussed at length about the advent of the concept of Islamic Studies, its evolution, present scenario and need to revise the syllabus in tandem with the contemporary changes, new topics of research with reference to the future of Islamic Studies and necessity to link the subject with the prospects of employment. Total 5 technical sessions were part of the two-day deliberations.
