One arrested for rape bid on minor

Mailardevpally: The Mailardevpally police arrested one Balaraju (45) for attempting to rape a minor girl. According to the police, Balaraju (45) came into close acquaintance with the 14-year-old, since her family members were tenants in the accused person's house in past.

Later, the victim's family shifted to another house in the same colony. On Monday night, Balaraju went to the victim's house when the girl was alone. He stuffed a cloth into her mouth and attempted sexual assault on her. Somehow, she resisted and shooed him away.

Later, when she related the incident to her mother about the cruel act, and the latter lodged a complaint at the police station. A case under POCSO Act was registered, and the accused was taken into custody.
