Out-of-the-box creativity to the fore at Telangana innovation fete
The T Innovation Utsavam, a symposium of technical accomplishments made by innovators from different backgrounds and age groups in emerging technologies, was a special draw at People’s Plaza on the state formation day on Thursday.
Tank bund: The T Innovation Utsavam, a symposium of technical accomplishments made by innovators from different backgrounds and age groups in emerging technologies, was a special draw at People's Plaza on the state formation day on Thursday. More than 65 innovations were exhibited at the event organised by Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC). The programme served as a platform for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative ideas and concepts which, many felt, are worth sharing and funding.
"The 'T Innovation Utsavam' demonstrated technologies with out-of-the-box innovations representing how conceptualisation begins with imagination and progresses towards innovation. This event is one of those exciting avenues where you can experience of what the world calls as ruling industry trends. To develop these growing innovations, we have set up Telangana Innovation Cell and are looking forward to more useful innovations," said Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, IT department, Telangana.
"It is an excellent platform for visitors to interact with innovators and understand ideas. It provided great opportunities to exchange business concepts with thought leaders from various sectors creating avenues to gain new technology-oriented perspectives and achieves the objective of building stronger business relations, thus establishing Telangana as a preferred partner for diverse business endeavors. We have received encouraging and positive responses from all Visitors who have graced the precious T Innovation Utsavam," Annie, Public Relation Officer, TS Innovation Centre, told The Hans India.
Vishnu, a student of Vidya Jyothi Institute of Technology, innovator of a project on water treatment using RadpberryPi, explained that, "Automation of water treatment plant has already been developed and widely used in many countries. But most of them use programmable logic controllers-PLCs. This paper focuses on an innovative and intelligent control and monitoring system for Water Treatment Plant by using 'Raspberry Pi' as an effective alternative to PLCs for the automation of small water treatment plants. Raspberry Pi is a minicomputer which has an ability to control the system comes with advantages like low cost and compact size."
Ashok, a 9th standard innovator, said: "Our innovation is 'Smelly Clock' which helps deaf people to wake up on time. Generally, it is difficult for the deaf people to hear any sounds and it mostly not possible for them to set alarm clock to wake up. So, we prepared a smelly alarm clock and this will emit the smell on a time which we fixed in the clock and the smell will wake them up – you can choose good or bad smell. This will help deaf students attend school on time without missing classes."
Enosh, a student of Theegala Krishna Reddy Engineering College, said that, "We designed 'Agriculture Sprayer Drone' product which is an aerial vehicle. It can fly over farm land with a payload of 10 liters and spray over them evenly and finely distributes the atomised chemicals with the help of integrated nozzles to the drone. This project mainly focuses on the welfare of the farmer; basically, it's a tool to farmer which helps in multiple aspects like time, health, money and workload. This equipment is designed for spraying chemicals on infected crops.
It avoids some difficulties faced by the farmers whose health is affected with manual spraying of chemicals to plants, without proper protection. Due to health hazards, some farmers even died due to inhaling of some chemicals used for pest control in fields. So, by using our product a farmer can eliminate direct contact with chemicals. It takes only 10 minutes to spray one acer land.
As drone flies at fixed height over the crops, it distributes even amounts of pesticides to all the plants. The main objective of the work is to save farmer health and reduce the time of spraying. Improvements are made in the product design and performance like battery life, It is quite cost-effective too, apart from facilitating easy and convenient operation by farmers."
Alladi Prabhakar, the founder of 'Pallesrujana' magazine, has exhibited trendy and useful innovations like multi-purpose cot, wheel-chair with various functions, jumbo air cooler and many others. He said that, "T Innovation Utsavam is a positive gesture to the budding entrepreneurs. It created a platform to promote innovations for the benefit of society, There is a need to support innovators in their endeavours."

Congratulations to the entrepreneurs," said Vimal Roy who is working with IBM. "The visit has given us a better understanding of rural Telangana as an offshore partner. We're very impressed about how they have grown new & young professionals in the IT industry." said Karuni. "We have had a great experience knowing about the agricultural and all innovations from rural areas and their positive future plans, which are in tune with our plans for the IT environment development," said Phala.
