Gandhi Hospital: Around 80 students from different medical colleges across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other parts of India participated in a simulated drill at Gandhi Hospital. It was conducted in association with the Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management wing of GHMC.

Speaking to The Hans India, Sreyan Reddy from the organising team shared, "Two years ago we simulated a major road traffic accident to give an inside experience to medical undergraduate students about what to do at the site of disaster and accidents before taking the victim to the hospital. "For doing drills like this we usually take conditions where we have all types of injuries. This year we organised a simulated setup of a plane crash with conditions where the victims are dealing with multiple injuries."

Apart from the drill, a theory session in the morning by the doctors from Indian Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) on types of injuries sustained during plane crashes was included.

The Annual Edition of Gandhi's Intermedical Symposium (AEGIS) is an annually organised medical conference by Gandhi Medical College to explore the vast subject of medicine, with workshops, interesting cases and paper presentations and guest speakers.

Vishwajit Kampati, Director of Enforcement, Vigilance, and Disaster Management GHMC was also present. The students were divided into two groups of 40 members each and each group was divided into a sub-group. The teams were assigned specific tasks. The students acted as locals and each one was assigned a task on what to do once they enter the plane.

A student was assigned to categorise all the victims according to their situation and tie bands on their hands which will show their situation. If the victim is dead he/she will tie black band on his hand, if the victim is injured and needs emergency attention then the volunteer will tie red band on his arm which symbols emergency attention.

Similarly, the green band will be tied to the ones who are ambulatory the ones who are injured but can get up and walk on their own and yellow band will be tied to the victims who need attendance but that's not very urgent.

The other team will clear out victims according to the band tied on their hands, red band victims are the ones who are shifted to the hospital immediately followed by a green band and yellow band and black ones.
