Masab Tank: BC students, parents and BC leaders, under the aegis of BC Welfare Association, laid siege to Telugu Samkshema Bhavan in Masab Tank on Wednesday demanding the state government to start additional sections.

Speaking on the occasion, BC leader R Krishnaiah appealed the state government to consider starting additional sections, taking into consideration tremendous demand for admissions in gurukul schools. While 2.45 lakh applications were received for admissions this academic year, seats were given only to 28,000 students, he said. The demand for gurukul schools has peaked due to the excellent 10th class results, he said. He also demanded the state government to start residential junior and degree colleges for BC students.

During the protest, BC students and their parents gheraoed secretary of BC gurukul schools Mallaiah Battu and raised slogans demanding additional sections to meet the increasing demand for seats and more residential junior and degree colleges for BCs. Later, R Krishnaiah held discussions with Mallaiah Battu on the situation.

Apart from hundreds of students and their parents, BC leaders Gujja Krishna, Venkatesh, Gopal, Ramakrishna and others also participated in the protest.
