Hyderabad: Poshan Abhiyaan awareness rally and 2K Run campaign was held at Peoples Plaza on Tuesday. It was organised by the Women Child Welfare Department in collaboration with an NGO, People Helping Child (PHC).

Danam Nagender, MLA, Khairatabad, flagged off the rally. Naina Jaiswal motivated the crowds to have nutritious food and urged the citizens to strive to be healthy.

"Managing perfect body weight is not a complicated rocket science. Our body is made up of food which we eat during our day-to-day life. If we are overweight or obese at the moment, then one thing is certain that the food which we eat is unhealthy.

Lack of access to proper nutrition is not only fueling obesity, it is also leading to food insecurity and hunger among our children," said B Jhansi Lakshmibhai, District Welfare Officer, Hyderabad.

Around 300 Anganwadi workers and teachers participated in the event as it is their daily work to provide nutrition food to children and pregnant women. The volunteers of PHC educated people on improving nutritional outcomes for children, adolescents, pregnant women and lactating mothers by leveraging technology, a targeted approach and convergence was observed in a 2K run organized under Poshan Abhiyan, a scheme of Government of Telangana.
