Protests to be staged against Citizenship Amendment Bill passage
To understand rising concerns and foster a dialogue, a round-table conference on CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill) and its aftereffects was held at Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) office, Chatta Bazar on Thursday.

Civil rights and religious organisations including left-leaning organisations strongly condemned the way the Bill was passed in the Parliament without proper consensus across the country, which triggered violence in the North-East region. They described this as the tarnishing of the ethos of constitution on which the nation was built. At the end of the round-table, some groups suggested going ahead with the silent protests at various locations in the city.
For instance, SIO (Students Islamic Organisation) has decided to organise a protest after Friday prayers in Mehdipatnam. The host of the round table JIH has decided to lead protest and asked everyone to wear black badges on Friday and observe a protest at Dharna Chowk on Sunday.
Maulana Mohammed Naseeruddin, the president of Wahdat-e-Islami, the state president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Hamid Mohammed Khan, columnist Iqbal Ahmed Engineer, Progressive Organisation of Women president V Sandhya, Justice Chandra Kumar, Phule Ambedkar State Committee,Convener Malik, SIO state president Sohaib Ahmed, Tameer-e-Millat representative Ahmed Shareef, Jamaat Ahle Hadees representative Asif Umri, Khair-e-Ummat president Muneeruddin Mujahid, Awam-e-Majlis-e-Amal president Mujahid Hashmi, JIH women's wing leader Khalida Parveen and others were present.
