Musheerabad: On the occasion of 100th birth anniversary of Dr Raja Bahadur Gour, a noted communist leader, Telangana RTC Employee Union (EU) organised a seminar on 'Public transport and government policies' at Maqdoom mini hall, Vidyanagar on Tuesday. Senior faculty of CIRT CH Hanumantha Rao participated in the seminar as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Hanumantha Rao said that the former Rajya Sabha member Dr Raja Bahadur Gour, who was also honorary president of RTC employee union, had not only awakened people through his writings in Urdu, but also fought for the welfare of people. He called upon people to take inspiration from such great personalities to fight against injustice being done to RTC employees.

He said that TSRTC lags behind state transport of many states. While most of the RTCs have four to five buses for every thousand people, TSRTC has only one bus for every thousand people, he lamented. Many villages in the state do not have RTC connectivity, he said. He appealed the state government to take necessary measures to develop RTC and improve public transport facilities in the state.

Various RTC union leaders, who spoke on the occasion, condemned the central government policy of disinvestment of public sector companies. They expressed the need to stage united fight against wrong policies of the government. Employee union leaders appealed RTC employees to elect them in the forthcoming RTC elections. RTC employee union (EU) president S Babu, K Raji Reddy, Haranath, Trilochana, Renuka and others participated in the seminar.
