The candidates contesting from here for the upcoming GHMC election along with incumbent, B Vijay Shekhar (TRS), are Etiyala Rajesh Goud (AIMIM), Garige Shekar (INC), Nandanam Divakar (BJP).
In RR Nagar, people are struggling to cope up with several civic issues like overflowing of sewage water, bad internal roads and lack of storm water drains. The residents claim that GHMC officials have turned a blind eye to their woes.
Overflowing sewage water, stagnant sewage water and lack of storm water drains have become constant source of problems for the residents of ward 127. It is very common to see sewage residuals stagnating on the roads, which is because of poor construction of sewage chambers and frequent blockage in the pipeline. During the monsoon, sewage water gets mixed with the rainwater, overflows into lanes and houses. Nothing has been done to clear the sewage water from the roads and due to that commuters are facing difficulties to commute from the lanes that may be from the main roads and internal roads.
What people say
"Almost all the colonies in the ward are facing inconvenience due to sewage overflow in the road and during rains water is flowing inside the houses. As there is no proper drainage system and so the water remains collected for several days on the lanes even after small rainfall. We have complained to GHMC officials but no action has been taken," said T Suresh, a resident of Ranga Reddy Nagar.
"Many times we have asked the corporator B Vijay Shekhar and GHMC officers to construct the storm water drain in the ward so that during the monsoon the rain water can easily flow in the drain. Also the sewage water is getting mixed with drinking water pipeline. Also due to the sewage issue, the roads are getting worse by the day. We are vexed of complaining about our issue to concern officials, as no concrete action is being taken," said Mohan Rao, a resident of Ranga Reddy Nagar.
