Secunderabad: Rampant dumping and burning of garbage by the wine shop and other commercial sectors at Trimulgherry Crossroads is leaving residents furious. Residents allege that garbage is being dumped illegally and the same is being set on fire during the night and early morning hours, leading to air pollution.

Besides, the smoke billowing from the burning of garbage has been affecting the visibility of motorists and leading to minor accidents. It also poses serious health concerns for the locals here. The residue after the garbage is burned is dumped into open nala front of the shop, due to which groundwater in the area is contaminated, said Sunil Reddy, resident of Trimulgherry.

"The trash should be segregated in a proper manner and but here it is not happing. Whenever we complained to the SCB officials concerned about this issue, they tell us to show proof, and, after showing them proof also, no step is taken by them," says Venkat Ramana, a resident of Malani Enclave.
