Secunderabad: Commemorating the 101st birth anniversary of noted Dalit social reformer J Eshwari Bai, Tourism and Culture Minister V Srinivas Goud paid floral tributes and garlanded the statue of Eshwarbai at East Maredpally on Sunday. Former minister Geetha Reddy, who is the daughter of Eshwari Bai, also paid tributes.

Srinivas Goud described Eshwari Bai as a brave woman who fought for people. He recalled her participation in the first phase of Telangana movement in 1967 and the way she inspired common people through her Telangana dialect.

Geetha Reddy recalled her mother's fight during Telangana agitation and said that she was proud of being her daughter. She said that several charitable and social services activities were being carried out by the Eswari Bai Memorial Trust. Condemning atrocities against women, she exhorted women to be brave enough to face any issue. Family members of Geetha Reddy and large numbers of Eshwari Bai fans paid tributes to her.
