Patancheru: A row has arisen in Bhanur Gram Panchayat (GP) over the removal from service of a 'karobar' Pandu who contends that he has not been served any notice. However, Sarpanch Srinivas claims that he was sacked as per a GP resolution. The EOPRD Devadas has taken up an investigation.

The row follows serious differences between Pandu and the ruling GP wing. On Sunday, a faction supporting him and the rivals led by Srinivas held separate press meets. Sarpanch and Upa-Sarpanch Naseema Begum maintained that Pandu during the last 15 years had been participating in TRS activities in violation of norms, including campaigning in the recent local body elections. They claimed receiving complaints from villagers asking how a party activist could work as a 'karobar.'

Following a 'unanimous' resolution at the GP meeting on May 21, Pandu was removed from service. The Sarpanch stated that the resolution would be sent to the district collector and panchayat officer. One Mahesh has been appointed as 'karobar'. They contended that a clarification was taken from Pandu when the resolution was taken up.

Pandu, who announced giving up duty as suggested by many, was seen sitting in the GP office two days back, apparently questioning who would dare to send him out. The Sarpanch alleged that Pandu misbehaved with him resorting to abuse, following which a police complaint was lodged. He said photographs of Pandu participating in TRS activities were in their possession and that they would be sent to the collector.

Former Sarpanch Shantayya and village leaders, speaking in support of Pandu, stated that his wife had contested as MPTC member, which was known to everyone. He had also informed the higher-ups and took up campaigning in her support. They questioned as to how long vengeful action would be taken by the ruling faction, unable to face Pandu politically. They claimed that the Sarpanch had no power to remove a 'karobar' and that a complaint would be lodged in this regard to the higher-ups.

Devadas, who took up investigation into the episode, pointed out that the Sarpanch had no power to remove a 'karobar'. He admitted receiving complaints of Pandu acting in violation of regulations. He would submit reports on this to higher officials.

Devadas wanted to the GP ruling faction to send complaints to higher-ups. 'Till receipt of a report there is no need to entrust any duty to Pandu', he said adding that anyone working in a government office should follow regulations.
