Himayathnagar: CPI National Secretary Narayana has alleged that state government is trying to muzzle voices of opposition leaders and RTC leaders who have been protesting on RTC issues, by way of arrests and detentions.

He was speaking at a press conference organized here on Tuesday. CPI leaders Chada Venkat Reddy, Narsimha and others spoke to media after participating in "Chalo DGP office" to protest on police repression.

Narayana alleged that the state police had been depriving people of their right to protest. He condemned the arrests of opposition and RTC leaders who had been protesting in support of RTC employees. He termed the arrests anti-democratic.

He asked the state government leaders to recall that the state of Telangana was formed after an intensive agitation. He condemned the way CPI leader Kunamneni Sambashiva Rao, who was on hunger strike, was whisked away from the protest venue by police.

Chada Venkat Reddy warned the state government that the movement would be intensified if the government continued its repressive actions. Expressing concerns over deaths of RTC employees, he demanded the state government to initiate measures to resolve the strike. He warned that the strike would not withdrawn until the government meets demands of RTC employees.
