Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Tuesday demanded that the State Election Commission should take suo motto action against MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi for his statement wherein he asked people to seek money from the Congress party to give votes in municipal elections.

Shabbir Ali, in a media statement, alleged that Asaduddin Owaisi was provoking the voters to ask for money to give votes in the municipal elections.

"Being the head of a political party, Asaduddin Owaisi should advise people against taking money from anyone to cast their vote in their favour. Instead, Owaisi is advising people to become corrupt and sell their votes for money," he said and urged the State Election Commission to take a notice of Owaisi's statement. Everyone in Telangana knows that TRS and MIM pay money to buy votes.

Asaduddin Owaisi's friend and Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao also shop for Opposition MLAs. People also know that the price for each vote in general election is more than Rs 2,000.

He said that Owaisi must clarify how his wealth multiplied manifold from Rs 39 lakh in 2004 to Rs 13 crore in 2019. While voters of Hyderabad remained poor and backward, Asaduddin Owaisi turned into a multi-millionaire in 15 years.
