South Central Railway bags four All India performance efficiency shields
South Central Railway achieved highest recognition at National Level by bagging four All India Performance Efficiency Shields at 64th Railway Week Awards function held at NCPA Auditorium, Mumbai on Tuesday.
Secunderabad: South Central Railway achieved highest recognition at National Level by bagging four All India Performance Efficiency Shields at 64th Railway Week Awards function held at NCPA Auditorium, Mumbai on Tuesday. SCR bagged All India Performance Efficiency shields for Traffic Transportation; Personnel Management; Civil Engineering and Stores Departments. These Shields are presented by Vinod Kumar Yadav, Chairman Railway Board during the function.
Traffic Transportation Shield
South Central Railway has registered the best ever annual freight loading performance in the history of the Zone by reaching the mark of 122.51 million tonnes (MTs) loading, which is 10% more than the target set by the Railway Board. The incremental loading registered by SCR is the best amongst all zones of Indian Railways, which is 30% of total incremental traffic over IR. The Zone has operated a highest number of Special Trains i.e, 2152 and augmented more than 10,000 extra coaches to clear the extra rush of passengers which resulted in carrying of around 30 lakh additional passengers over the Zone, which led to bagging the Traffic Transportation Shield.
Personnel Management Shield
The Zone was also instrumental on Indian Railways in implementing various Human Resources initiatives viz., Employees Overseas Camp, Staff Welfare Canteen etc., and introduction of various Digital Initiatives for the benefit of staff and also promoting the green initiatives such e-settlement for beneficiary of employees superannuating; e-Office for file movement. SCR has been nominated as the Nodal Zone for developing and implementation of the Unique Medical Identity Card (UMID) for employees and pensioners on Pan India level; etc., all of which led to bag the Personnel Management Shield.
Stores Shield
Stores Shield has been jointly bagged by South Central Railway and South Western Railway. The major contributions of SCR Stores Department are - Rs 340 crores earned through scrap sale which is 17 % more than the target set by Railway Board; the Inventory turnover ratio was the best among all Zones in Indian Railways. Overall material availability was maintained at 99.9 % throughout the year, while the availability of safety and passenger necessary items were 100 % throughout the year. SCR is the first zone to print advertisements on Unreserved Tickets (UTS) for generation of Non Fare Revenue of around Rs. 3 crores. Materials worth Rs 32 crore was purchased through Government e-Market Place (GeM) as against the target set by Railway Board of Rs 30 crore.
Engineering Shield
Engineering Shield is jointly bagged by South Central Railway with Western and Northern Railway. South Central Railway is amongst the first Zone over Indian Railways to eliminate all the Unmanned Level Crossings (UMLCs) well before the targeted date. Road Under Bridges/Limited Height Subways (RUBs/LHS) which were constructed by adopting Innovative methods, taking short blocks, with bare minimal impact on train services. The Deep Screening Turnouts with Ballast Cleaning Machine (BCM) for a distance of 628 Kms has been completed by exceeding the Railway Board target set for 489 Kms.
