The punctuality performance of mail/express trains of South Central Railway has increased to 82% during the first six months of the current financial year (April to September-2019). Punctuality of the mail/express trains during the same period for the previous financial year (2018-19) was 79%. Officials say that measures such as end running of some trains with diesel locomotives to avoid detention on account of loco changing from diesel to electric, conversion of conventional rakes of Mail/Express trains (Integral Coach Factory rakes) into LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) rakes, rationalization of Time Table, curtailment of stoppage time at major terminals, commissioning of 1st phase of Dedicated Freight Corridor and high capacity water pumps at watering stations to minimise detention on this account have helped increase punctuality performance.
